Owned and operated by the Holland America Line, Zaandam is a Rotterdam class cruise ship that was built by Italy’s Fincantieri and is named after a city in the Netherlands. She has been designed with a musical theme and decorated with memorabilia from various musical genres, including a Baroque-style Dutch pipe organ and guitars signed by the likes of Carlos Santana and the Rolling Stones.
Zaandam features a wraparound Lower Promenade Deck and Holland America’s signature sculpture in the atrium, in this case, a working organ with mechanical figures. Many of the public rooms are decorated with Dutch colonial motifs while the cabins and suites have been fitted out with the company’s Signature of Excellence amenities, which include flat-screen TVs, high-volume shower heads, pillow-top mattresses and high thread count sheets.
Zaandam currently sails out of Alaska during the summer months and to Mexico and Hawaii during the winter, with cruises to the Antarctic and South America during December and January.
